Note 1: The Audit Committee with the help of Moore Advisory Services Limited (member firm of Moore Global) conducts reviews twice a year on the effectiveness of our internal controls in order to fulfill the relevant requirements under the Corporate Governance Code of the Main Board listing Rules issued by HKEX.

Our Sustainability Vision

Among the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) announced by the United Nations (UN) in 2015, NetDragon has prioritized seven of them that we consider as the most relevant to our business:

NO POVERTY

“By 2030, reduce at least by half the proportion of men, women and children of all ages living in poverty in all its dimensions according to national definitions”

NetDragon actively participates in poverty alleviation projects. We have established long-term cooperation with various local government agencies across China, including Education Bureaus and Poverty Alleviation Offices. Our poverty alleviation efforts focuses on achieving education equality for underdeveloped regions, by providing customized solutions to local K-12 schools by upgrading their technology devices and improving their teachers’ capabilities and experiences.

GOOD HEALTH AND WELL-BEING

“By 2030, reduce by one third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being”

NetDragon values the overall health and well-being of our employees. We promote healthy working habits, balanced lifestyle, and encourage regular exercise. Our global headquarters in Fuzhou offers one of the most complete range of both outdoor and indoor sport facilities for our employees, as well as inhouse coaches and trainers to create a strong culture of staying fit and healthy.

QUALITY EDUCATION

“By 2030, ensure that all boys and girls complete free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education leading to relevant and effective learning outcomes”

Education is a primary business of NetDragon and represents 42% of our revenue in 1H 2021. Our one-stop blended learning offering is designed to combine the best of our proprietary hardware, software and content to lead to relevant and effective learning outcomes. We are one of only a handful of leading global education companies that are actively engaged in serving in emerging countries, including Egypt, Ghana, Thailand, etc., with a vision to leverage our technologies to provide high quality education to every primary and secondary students. And in pursuit of this vision, we also formed a strategic partnership with UNESCO in August 2020 to promote global education equality.

AFFORDABLE AND CLEAN ENERGY

“By 2030, increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix”

NetDragon pushes for 100% clean energy usage in our headquarters and the Smart Education Town under planning. Where feasible, we minimize consumption of non-renewable energy sources across all activities to ensure we meet continually improving energy performance standards.

DECENT WORK AND ECONOMIC GROWTH

INDUSTRY,INNOVATION AND INFRASTRUCTURE

“Enhance scientific research, upgrade the technological capabilities of industrial sectors in all countries, in particular developing countries, including, by 2030, encouraging innovation and substantially increasing the number of research and development workers per 1 million people and public and private research and development spending”

NetDragon spends more than RMB 1 billion in R&D annually, and hires more than 3,000 R&D personnel worldwide. We have also entered into partnerships with global leading technology companies including Sony, Autodesk, TCL, China Unicom, etc. to explore the research and development of next-generation education products.

CLIMATE ACTION

“Strengthen resilience and adaptive capacity to climate-related hazards and natural disasters in all countries”

NetDragon is fully aware of the possible impacts of climate change on the environment, the public and the Group, and has identified and assessed the risks posed by climate change and developed measures and plans to minimize the impacts. We will follow the Carbon Neutrality Project to decarbonise the Group by reducing its transport, and push for overall carbon neutrality covering all subsidiaries and supply chain partners. Based on the fact that our flagship classroom technology subsidiary Promethean has achieved carbon neutrality in 2019 and 2020, we are committed to focusing on the issue of climate change continuously, and we are committed to gradually adopting the TCFD framework from 2024 onwards, to disclose the Group's risk management system and initiatives on climate change, and set up and continue to track the progress of relevant metrics and targets.
